The moment I met Kaiser, he leaped into my heart. Not only was he a handsome boy, he had a gentle and loving spirit that spoke softly to anyone who stopped to give him the pets he so loved.
I couldn’t adopt Kaiser at the time and I was over joyed when I heard that Great Kitty Rescue volunteer extraordinaire Gilla Gidlow had adopted him. With a name change to Billy, Kaiser joined his feline sister Phoebe and canine brother Teddy and mom and dad in their home in British Columbia. Billy lived a wonderful life and Gilla frequently shared updates with his fans, including me.
Last Thursday I got the update that I dreaded…Kaiser aka Billy crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday.
Here is what Gilla shared:
Our beloved, precious and so loving little Billy (formerly Kaiser) left us yesterday after a short illness – aggressive stomach cancer which just ate him up and is very painful in the end stages. He had a short reprieve with the help of Prednisolone and was almost back to normal for a few days, but went down quickly yesterday. He slept on my cheek like so many nights before and cuddled in the morning, but went quickly downhill and died in my arms at home yesterday evening.
We are devastated – losing him less than 4 months after losing our precious dog Teddy, who died suddenly from an undetected tumor that burst. It has not been a good year.
Our thoughts are with Gilla and David and we hope that the wonderful memories of happy times spent with Billy and Teddy give them comfort and help their hearts to heal.
